Superstar musician, businessperson, and music phenomenon, Mr. Eazi takes listeners to South Africa on “Chop Life, Vol. 1: Mzansi Chronicles,” the debut album from his brand-new pan-African music group.
The mixtape’s 14 songs take a deep dive into amapiano, a dance music style that originated in South Africa and has since grown to be one of the most thrilling and well-known new music genres in the whole globe. In 2022 and 2023, it was detected between Cape Town and Johannesburg. Moonchild Sanelly, Focalistic, Ami Faku, and Major League Djz are among the project’s notable South African musicians in addition to a host of up-and-coming performers.
The official debut of ChopLife SoundSystem, the Nigerian-born Mr. Eazi‘s new music lifestyle project, is presented in “Choplife Vol. 1: Mzansi Chronicles.” ChopLife SoundSystem takes its name from West African pidgin slang meaning “enjoy life,” as well as the traditional sound systems that form the basis of dancehall music culture.
On ChopLife Records, Mr. Eazi provides the majority of the vocals. He also acts as the label’s Minister of Enjoyment (MC) during live concerts, where he is accompanied by resident selector DJ Edu (of BBC Radio renown), as well as guest musicians and DJs. With this master of ceremonies position, Mr. Eazi adds, “I’m going back to where I started from when I was hosting the biggest parties at university.” I got my start in singing that way.
